LASIK/PRK - Patient Information Sheet

Following vision correction surgery, adhere to the following guidelines for a smooth recovery:

  • Avoid touching or itching the treated eye and steer clear of water contact to support optimal healing.
  • Practice prayer without bending for added eye protection.
  • Apply lubricating drops four times a day to maintain moisture and aid in comfort.
  • Administer antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drops to fortify against infections and manage inflammation.
  • Take prescribed pills every 12 hours, being cautious in the presence of lactation or allergies.
  • Wear protective goggles on the operation day and during sun exposure for the next three days.
  • Refrain from using eye cosmetics for a week to allow for undisturbed healing.
  • Avoid sea or swimming pools for three weeks to prevent potential contaminants and support a seamless recovery.

Wash your hands before using your eye drops. To insert the drops gently pull down on the lower eyelid and insert in the pocket created. Gently release the lower lid. Make sure not to touch your eye on the bottle tip. Close your eyes for 30 seconds after putting in the drops. *If your surgery was in the late morning or the afternoon you may not have enough time to put in all sets of drops, Don’t Worry. Put a set of drops in before your nap and another set after waking. Don’t wake up just to use the drops. Start the schedule on the next full day after your procedure.
